If I ever saw a doctor holding a syringe like that I would run like hell.

You get used to it. I practically lived in the hospital at one point, and I remember a nurse putting in a IV line into my arm. Whether it was from incompetence or inexperience, blood started to gush and spill all over the tray from the IV line she just put in. I just stared at it and went, "ehhh, whatever"
