That line of thought had occurred to me as well. As if she didn't survive the drop.

The poor design of German parachutes compounded the problem: the standard German harness had only a single riser to the canopy, and thus it could not be steered.

I find this picture cute and sad at the same time. It's heart-breaking to see a proud soldier, eager to fight, dying before shooting even a single round...

But look at the belt. And the helmet.

I remembering that note that this is Germany's largest paratroop invasion with large casualty rate...

Though I still don't fully get what in the world went wrong for the Fallschrimjager during the Crete run aside from the chutes being terribad.
