Food hype can be a double edged sword. I remember when my brother got super hyped about white meat McNuggets (I figured the taste wouldn't be much different), but yeah he was disapointed.

Reader-added tags include "You don't have a bowl so much as a bawl..." (originally punning Nakasu the location with the homophone verb meaning "to cry"), "If it were Yuyu-sama, she'd scarf it down and then head right for the next place", and "Yuyu-sama: 'Why is there no "all of the above" in the survey?'"

Ah, yes, food let down.
This is why I stopped having anticipations about the various foodstuffs at my destinations when I traveled a lot and just let the locals (the people whom I was going there to meet, usually) tell me (or take met) where the good stuff was.
Still didn't entirely eliminate food let down though.

I don't like it too much when a place fails to live up to what's written in the menu, either. At a recent con I went to, we went to this place that served bison burgers. The menu said they were supposed to be leaner and have a sweeter taste to them. They tasted just like ordinary burgers to me, though. The only difference was that I had to pay more for it. No worries, Sanae-san, maybe the next place you choose will be better.

For the poll, yes. If I have to choose one, chashao.
