    That's a brotchen, a type of German bun that is found literally everywhere in Germany. Which is also a popular type of bun to be used with hotdogs(called Bratwurst there).

    One of the cheapest thing you can eat in a German city, taste good and is filling enough to worth its price.

    Do note that I mean it tastes good in comparison to its price though, it's not some miracle bread or anything.

    I only lived in Germany for half a year before but yeah by my experiences the exterior should be nice and crispy if the breads are not old and are stored properly. But getting the things from supermarket I don't think it would surprise anyone if those things are several days, if not weeks old.
