Mayaa is very protective of Sakaki. After Mayaa's mother died, he went on a quest to find Sakaki. After finding and protecting Sakaki from a bunch of ally cats, she adopted Mayaa. He's extremely protective of her. Also, Mayaa is the only cat that has not ran away or bitten Sakaki's hand. He's just trying to keep the wrong people from coming up to Sakaki that's all.
