You know, is it me, or does Youmu seem to get hotter with each picture every day? Ever since Ten Desires, i dunno, it seems like she's gotten a little more cute/sexy.

Well she does seem to got "something" before Ten Desires. Go read her wiki for a little explanation.
If you haven't experienced the yuri obsession of the Touhou fanbase, then you probably won't believe it. I've heard of at least two manga artists that were slandered or harassed to the point of giving up their works because they had the gall to pair a Touhou with a male.
Let's just say that the moment Zun introduces a male character as the boy friend of a existing female, whatever happens will be really really really bad. In my book, Rinnosuke is the only "stable" male character Touhou needs.

But for how much longer? He's barely a relevant character as it is. There are TOO many female characters in touhou, there needs to be more males. Think of the possibilities of more diverse, and interesting doujins we would have if zun grew a pair an added a couple of new male characters!
It's not that he needs to grow a pair it's that he finds women to be more fun to write about. Also He thinks all the themes that he composes to be to girly for a male character.
Is that really a good excuse not to add male characters in the project? I understand that the series is targeted toward lonely otaku, and inadvertently, western anime fans, but is it too much to ask to at leas put ONE male character in the game?

It really burns me when i hear that. these lonely otaku fanboys are so afraid that their waifu are going to be swept off their feet by a male character, that they are willing to destroy the integrity of the series fanbase to make a statement. This is the reason why we keep seeing more "all-girl" anime these days because most of these otaku are threatened by other male characters. News falsh people, these characters are not real, they're not thinking about you, they don't have an animus, and they are imaginary, stop thinking about them being you girlfriend, and just enjoy the series like a normal person. We see doujin where faceless male characters having sex with the characters in touhou, and doing unspeakable, and downright repulsive things to them, and these people are okay with that, but if they happen to fall in love, or have a relationship with one of these characters, and all of a sudden, all hell breaks loose. Something is seriously wrong with Japanese fanbases!
It's not geared towards anyone in particular. ZUN just does this because he likes it, and said that he would continue even if he lost all of his fanbase. If you feel so inclined to force your beliefs on the creator it won't really work. Even if and/or when he does decide to include a male character that can fight on par with the girls that is still for him to decide. He does say that there are men in Gensoukyo and he does reference men quite a bit in his works, so either be patient or give up. You don't even have to pay attention to the fanon in order to enjoy it.
I known it's his decision, but could we at least see one guy other than rinnosuke? He could even be an cunning antagonist!
Even if it's not in the game, would be nice to see a relevant male character in one of the mangas.
There was an old man named Unshou in chapter 11 of wild and horned hermit, that healed Marisa when she was attacked by a Tiger. Even though he made a brief appearance, he showed that the series can work with more male characters!

Unshou was pretty cool, bargaining with a kappa and getting the ultimate medicine. Kasen even described him as "an old man who became more hermit-like than a hermit". I wish people thought to depict him in fanworks...
I agree though, even if we don't get a whole lot more male characters in games, the series could work perfectly well with some male supporting characters.
