Did I miss the meeting where we are all supposed to hate Sabrina's HeartGold/SoulSilver design? When I first saw it, I didn't think it was bad and thought it was closer to her actual personality in the previous games. I remember when I was playing my Red version many years ago and thought she seemed like a normal person as oppose to the dark personality she had in the anime. If anything, her personality in the games was closer to that of what she had in "Electric Tale of Pikachu".

There were quite a few fans that disliked her design in Heartgold.
