It seems like a fair comparison, although Kokoro doesn't seem quite as utterly batshit insane as Hex.

I can see that, but I'm also reminded of one of the main antagonists towards the end of King of Bandits: Jing (I think it was the queen of Zaza who used those masks to hide the fact that she could no longer smile because she lost her son to either a war or an uprising shown in the "Mascorrida" episodes.).
