We've seen cyborgs and free-space holographic displays in this universe, meaning it's considerably more advanced than ours, and that pistol looks pretty big. Who knows, it might be loaded with explosive rounds. That could help...

I always saw the police in this as sort of cannon fodder and then some sort of X-Com style team swoops in and goes to town on those demon/titan things.

If that's the case then I'm not betting on her winning.

I'd be happy if the grunts weren't plain cannon fodder for once. Sure, make them weaker than the "X-COM specialists", but once in a while, a single officer can hit the weak point, and at least live to tell the tale.

Uncertain close encounter

At the ditch on the outskirts of the town we encountered giant human-like creature. It was playing with a torn apart man. It ignored warning shots and words, tried to attack us and we had to kill it. It looked like more or less living being and we shot it to death with my handgun and my colleague’s shotgun. That being said, but now I have one magazine less. After that we tried to contact higher-ups, but they didn't believe us and told to go in the direction of a riot in the district not so far away. Though I think it's not good to leave body of this creature as is...

At least they managed to (semi-)kill it, and it only took her one mag (plus the shotgun). Now to see if it comes back, and if it does, how pissed will it be?

I think it is estimated to be an 8-meter class. Did Yukari gap them in the modern-futuristic world of theirs? She must be pretty pissed off.

Ehm... I belive a litre of kerosine would do some "not to leave it as is" job. And in Japan, many cheap-grade households prefer own stoves on kerosine or propane tanks instead of central heating or pipes of CH4 gas connection.

In other words, "kill it with fire" would be easy enough in Japan - even easier, than in Russia with its "trees everywhere".

It's a S&W Model 5906. 9x19 steel frame handgun. Became somewhat popular police handguns (at least in America) in the 1980s and 1990s before Glocks became the de facto standard. They're actually REALLY good handguns. Reliable, built like a damn tank.

Apparently the Japanese Coast Guard use(d)s it. Some police having it there isn't out of the question.

And, as we already saw, this is the same artist who in this series has demons come out to earth for the first time in 200 years only to get annihilated with human weapons. And a giant eldritch creature that awoke after eons only to be turned into a bullet-ridden pulp of meat. Handguns will work fine if you hit it in the right place and enough. As it should be. I don't give a shit what cosmic horror you are, your body works on the principle of physics same as mine. If you are shot enough, you will be rendered good enough for government work to be labelled "deceased."
