I'm liking this Yamame person more and more.

Has it been said if this Yamame is a male or female? I swore at one point the author said the person yamame was based off of was female but i just wanna check.

It hasn't been said explicitly, but the leading theory seems to be that Yamame is a woman.

Considering that Space Battleship Yamato 2199 is on the air, I would kind of expect to see more of that over time.

One more reason why Japan is awesome. I'd love to just randomly go sight-seeing across Japan and run into statues like these. It would be funny if I ran into the Yamame-san person getting friendly with a lady statue.
