For the record, the third panel seems to be saying that he is only part Italian. 若干生粋 is literally "somewhat natural-born". I couldn't find a way of conveying that in English without making it sound somewhat awkward, though.
I remember the author mentioned somewhere that even though their last name is French, Yohane is Italian, his step-brother is Spanish and his father is... some other nationality. He said we shouldn't worry about it too much.

Are you referring to how Miki calls Yohane "he" in the translation? There was absolutely no mention of gender in the original, but it's difficult to convey that in English.
However, there has been no indication that Yohane keeps his gender a secret from Miki or Monaka, so I'd assume his friends know. Whether the other people in school know is anyone's guess.
