If that's the case, he failed. Correct phrase would be "Великая война фей", and it holds too little resemblance to "Великая отечественная война" to be used in a pun. The one he used is extreme ranguage and it is impossible to understand the "joke" , unless you know both English and how googletrans usually works.

Well, I guess author could mean just "Великая фея" ("Great Fairy"), discarding the "war" part. Cirno is the strongest after all. But I'm pretty sure you are right.
