I completely fail to understand that picture. Why the moonfolks and Rinnosuke? Is there any context I'm missing?

Given all the trouble Rinnosuke's been having with women in this artist's other works, he apparently thinks inexplicably appearing on the moon will give him some respite. He's wrong, of course.
