If I recall, Suika is in this to have fun and fight (she is a Oni). She doesn't seem all that interested in winning the tournament if I recall. She did offer her services to Sakuya to replace Koa, but that was partly because she had waited to long to enter, and Koa was just not up to standing these fights (Utsuho was the one that blew her out...just managing to hang on long enough to not be seen falling like the Aki sisters did.)
Sakuya is intent on facing Remi at all costs. Because anything less would disappoint Remi.
Tenshi and Utsuho are in this for fun and are the Underdog team. The ones that took a great effort on the parts of other to even get into the contest. There were a lot of sacrifices to get them in.
It makes sense. Oni are supposed to be super-strong physical combat monsters. Suika dominating is no surprise.
Meiling is also supposed to be a super-awesome unarmed martial artist, and yet she got eliminated. An unpleasant surprise.
It's not really any compensation that Meiling is doing better in the other team-tournament comic, since that's an "anything-goes" battle with full abilities and danmaku. She shouldn't be nearly as successful in such a contest as this one. She and Patchouli have won their first battle believably, but with Meiling as the protagonist, how many future battles will be won through plot armor?
