On the topic of salt replenishment, I was once part of some conversation-in-a-foreign-language sort of exercise, and we were to put a bunch of things on a priority list of what to bring with you in a desert, if you can.
One of the options was salt pills, which I thought would be useful, but according to NASA (who determined the correct order) the body produces its own salt, so the pills were worse than useless...
(A tarp was at the top of the list, because you can dig a hole and cover it with the tarp, and condensation will pool in it during the night)

On top of that, your body typically has excesses of sodium stored to draw on. Even basic, unprocessed food will replenish the minimal needed. Meanwhile, spiking the sodium level of the body screws with its ability to regulate the correct levels.
