    How cruel, he's giving her a math quiz.

    Did I say cruel? I meant hilarious.

    Compared to what Tewi was threatened with (being flayed alive and sprayed with salt), that looks quite lame.

    If I read it correctly, she answered 2 and he told her she was wrong.

    That's a terribly worded word problem. And show you work?
    What terrible teacher came up with that crap?

    Don't feel bad Cirno, I'd have that same facial expression if I got a math problem that was worded as badly as that.

    I prefer to write it (1+1) + (1+1) but I don't think cirno's maths level is high enough to understand that. It might be but I don't know.

    the translation for the problem is wrong.

    Q Give the answer to 1+1 and show proof of how you got the answer of 1+1.

    Answer.

    She is probably confused about how to show proof, since its just logic that 1+1=2

    Show your work means show step by step. Thus the answer would be:
    1+1=2 (or however the glorious Nippon decides math works.)

    Well, it's intuitive (as in, we assume without proof) that 1 + 1 = 2, but out and out proving that 1 + 1 = 2 is considerably more difficult

    Personally, I prefer:

    1 + 1 = X
    2 = X
    2 - X = 0
    - X + 2 = 0
    If X = 2,
    0 = 0

    I guess it depends on what number base you're using. In Trinary, and everything above it, 1+1=2, but in Unary/Base One, 1+1=11 (count on your fingers if you don't believe me. "Eleven" is 11111111111 in Unary).

    Or 10 in binary.
    There are 10 types of people in the world: Those who understand binary, and those who don't.

    Eh?... Eh...?
    If you add 1 to 1 you get 2, right?
