Image description
A digital painting. A great blue heron stands over an open ribcage and its organs, its long and sharp beak spearing the heart and lifting it out. The heron and the organs are done in warm reds, oranges, and greens and the background is a dull teal. The line work is flowy and detailed.
An old woman in a Florida swamp told me she once knew a man who had been killed by a stab in the heart from a great blue heron.
