Artist's commentary
The Zero Escape series has raised the bar on my expectations for storytelling in games. I’m a fan of visual novels; strength of plot is a key factor in my decision whether or not to buy a game. As such, as you can probably guess, I’ve played a lot of games with good stories since I first picked up Nine Hours, Nine Persons, Nine Doors in my local game shop. Despite this, I don’t think it has ever been bested. Both 999 and VLR are so engaging and the characters are so multifaceted that I’ve not really been able to get them out of my head since. There is an incredible amount of love out there for this series: a love I’ve seen not only in myself or the friends I’ve persuaded to play it but in the wider world. Zero Escape has brought together people who might have otherwise never met and inspired so many.Thank you to Aksys and to Kotaro Uchikoshi for making these wonderful games happen. I have absolute confidence that Zero Time Dilemma will be just as emotionally devastating, and I can’t wait!
