国土交通省は、不特定多数が利用する駅や商業施設のトイレの行列改善に向け、便器数に関するガイドライン（指針）を初めて策定した。待ち時間を平等にするため、男女の利用者数が同数である施設は、女性用トイレの便器数を男性用以上にすることなどを盛り込んだ。学会や行政、施設管理者に対して基準の点検や見直しを求めている。

The Ministry of Land, Infrastructure, Transport and Tourism (MLIT) has for the first time formulated guidelines on the number of urinals in order to improve the procession of toilets in stations and commercial facilities used by an unspecified number of people. In order to make the waiting time equal, the facility, which has an equal number of male and female users, includes making the number of urinals for women's toilets more than men's use. It calls on academic societies, administrations, and facility managers to inspect and review standards.
