Artist's commentary
I sure Love that Elf
Heya!
After half an eternity I sat down to draw Ellie again! Hoyo Outfits still make my brain hurt, but everything for the pink thing! 😤
I hope you like her!
(Feel free to add any Elysia-Tags I may have missed =w=)

A little thing to let you guys know (smooth transition I know): It's July. That means Artfight, if you heard of that before. It's basically Artists drawing Stuff of other Artists, and it's a pretty cool concept! This year is my first time actually participating in Artfight, and depending on whether or not some people I draw for want me to post that stuff online, I may have more or less stuff to show this month 〒▽〒
Certainly doesn't help that my first Attack took me like, 5 Days to do with a majority of it just being me not entirely sure on how to go about backgrounds. In concept, BGs, are really simple. You can technically just use the workflow you already use on characters, just have to watch out a tad more for perspective stuff.
... Is what I'd like to say, if I were to actually do that (lll¬ω¬)
You see, my dream in drawing Backgrounds is to be able to just do it with forms alone, no Line Art and such. Sculpt/Carve it out, one by one, like a painter basically. I believe it's an important Skill to not just speed up the entire process, but also enjoy it more and enable me to draw more freely! Personally, and yes, this will be a lil' Line Art rant again, Clean Lines feel super restrictive to me. They look good, don't get me wrong, but during the workflow, it feels like "encasing a cage", as in "You shall not cross these barriers, lest you be cast into hellfire!". And I've felt that a more loose approach is just so much more enjoyable. IIRC, I have said something like that before =w=
You can also see this with Ellie here! The Lines you see are just further refined from the original sketch itself, carving those lines instead of actually tracing over them. That approach keeps my perfectionism in check, as with digital software and unlimited undo's, you kinda can just fix whatever you want, and as such you (can) get really hooked up on making EVERYTHING look perfect, even though that's not what Art's for imo. At least for me :3
Funny words considering what kind of standard I usually employ for just posting my art... (。_。III)

Well, so much for that. Not a lot of new stuff happening right now beyond Artfight. In that sense, I hope to see you all again in the next illustration!
Bye~ <3
