Artist's commentary
My girl (half) sank today 😭 . 3 June 1969 at approximately 0300 Local Time, Destroyer USS Frank E Evans DD-754 was split in half by the Australian carrier HMAS Melbourne and her forward half sank with 74 hands. Her stern half was saved.
