The GOUKETSUJI ICHIZOKU series isn’t one I’ve ever had a close personal connection to, but always kind of admired from a distance – perhaps never more so than with GROOVE ON FIGHT, given its relative obscurity and inaccessibility. It is definitely a very cool game though, and it’s got a look and atmosphere that is very distinct not just from the other games in the series, but other fighting games in general.

You can’t talk about GROOVE ON FIGHT without mentioning the face of the game, Solis=R8000. I love her design so I knew I wanted to draw her! I based the composition on a scrapped concept sketch of a cover illustration for the Sega Saturn home port of the game.
