  • I still occasionally receive questions about my Mega Man comics.

When I was drawing them for Comic BomBom over 30 years ago (!), I gave them my all—but even back then, I always understood that the world of Mega Man originated with Capcom’s games, and that the real story belongs to each player’s personal experience.
My manga was simply one of many Mega Man adaptations drawn by different artists at the time—that’s how I saw it.
So I honestly never expected that Mega Man Megamix (and Gigamix) would continue to be read long after I finished them, and even find their way back to me in such a lasting way.

But don’t get me wrong—it’s not that I was distancing myself from the work.
Rather, it’s a title that taught me so much and helped me grow when I was still young and inexperienced. It holds a very special place in my heart.

Thanks to the English translations and digital editions, the series still reaches new readers even today. It continues to bring new encounters my way.
    I’m deeply grateful for that.
It was truly a wonderful encounter—a fateful meguriai, as we say in Japanese.
