Yes, Koa was mean to Patchy earlier in the comic. Patchy was also alone in the library apart from Remi visiting her.

I think she doesn't want to be alone again, especially after Koa had a change of heart.

The whole purpose of this exercise was not to clean the library. It was to induce Patchouli to stand up for herself.

The first part of the plan was introducing the koakuma - who Remi knew would mercilessly tease and torment Patchouli - with the slender excuse of cleaning up the library.

Things went kind of off the rails when the koakuma went too far, broke Patchouli entirely, and then started to grow attached to her.

So Remi salvages the plan by reclaiming the koakuma - to whom Patchouli has herself become attached - and threatening to execute her. And defying Patchouli to defy her.
