I don't see any way around it. Gates will change on a dime. Flights will be delayed and cancelled. The language barrier is rough though.

I honestly thought that with all the international through traffic LAX gets, they'd have some kind of assistance for non-english-speaking people.

Maybe if you're at the international terminals. But once you get to the domestic terminals, you're pretty much on your own. Even at BOS, interpreters are hard to find, once you go from Terminal E to Terminal C, and they are no more than 250 meters apart.

There was a number on the ticket, and we boarded according to that number. Kogasa-san didn't know, so she was impatient. Just like a certain Higuchi from Death Note (laugh).

I've never seen Death Note, so it took me a moment to realize that "火口" was a name of a character, rather than literally "crater".

They don't? Actually, I don't think they do in Montreal either, and that's also a place where they have a lot of international flights connecting.

Their website said they had a bunch of services available, but it would seem they were harder to find than I'd hoped. This WAS the part of the trip I was most worried about... I'm glad it turned out okay, but... ^^; Still, it would have been nice if we'd been able to fly someone out to LAX.

Just a thought, shouldn't Kogasa's speech bubble in the last panel be in English or is she really speaking in broken Japanese?

It feels weird reading so much English in hiragana instead of katakana.

I get the feeling he chose to use hiragana over katakana to show just how much of a panic he was in at that point. The last minute changes were rather unfortunate, but hey, he made it out in the end. Hopefully things will be a little easier next time.
