His flight was about 45 minutes late, as I recall. I remember checking his flight's status at ass-o'clock in the morning because I planned to be there long enough to say hi before bolting back up I-93 to get to work.

I guess now I know to blame LAX for missing out on meeting him at the airport.

He pretty much said at the start that she wasn't actually on the phone the whole time; he was just going to be alone a lot and needed a sort of Greek Chorus for third-person commentary.
