This is referencing Bumin of the Ashina clan, who was a vassal of the Juan-Juans, being denied a marriage to a princess of Juan-Juans, who insulted him by calling him a servant blacksmith. This set off a war which led to the end of the Juan-Juans and the foundation of the Göktürk Khaganate with Bumin becoming it's great khan.
