No, I think it's the opposite. Cyclone exists now because it used rape/mindbreak genre for Nanoha series. Cyclone's work was definitely not very good in the beginning, but when they chose rape/mindbreak for nanoha characters, it became much more popular as there weren't so many rape doujinshi for Nanoha back then. After it became popular, it gained support and was able to grow into current level. Also, he drew rape+Nanoha for like 5 years now and became pretty skilled at it. It's what he does the best.
