Eira the Witch
A young girl, Eira, happily looks at herself in the mirror, rejoicing in her admission to the Royal Military-Magical Academy. Having placed among the top ten during the entrance examinations, a great future awaits her. Aristocrats have already begun competing for her attention, trying to win her favor.
She grew up in an orphanage far from the capital. Other orphans found her as an infant in the forest during winter. Had they not discovered her that day, she would never have felt the burning warmth of the sun again. The girl was taken in, and one of the nuns gave her the eloquent name - Eira.
On her eighth birthday, magic awakened within her. Her unknown parents had, after all, left her a legacy one that could bring both joy and sorrow. But on that day, it brought only joy.
Years later, a civil war broke out in the kingdom. Rebellious lords began tearing at one another, plunging the realm into chaos and laying waste to the lands. Within a year, the king managed to subdue his unruly vassals, but the consequences of their struggle were felt in even the most remote corners of the kingdom. The orphanage and the village where Eira lived suffered as well.
And so, Eira decided to use her inheritance to reach heights that would allow her to prevent such wars in the future while also earning enough money to help her home orphanage.
In an old, abandoned building hangs a mirror that, strangely, reflects an entirely different scene. Instead of the dimly lit room, the mirror shows sunlight.
…A dry rasping sound…
A skeletal creature approaches the strange mirror. Within it, she sees a cheerful girl dreaming of a bright future.
…A rasp again… The creature lets out a sound that could almost be described as laughter.
A bony hand slowly reaches toward the mirror, while its owner watches the girl’s smile, a girl who has no idea how heavy her fate will be.
