Artist's commentary
Sakura Mamiya
This is for a collab collage project over at RumikoTakahashi-Club (you can read more about it here: [link]).
I am never (never) lucky when it comes to draws so I was overly excited to find out that I was supposed to draw Sakura Mamiya.
The pose is rather boring but she is quite the calm and collected kind of girl. It is easier to imagine poses for... pretty much any other Rumic heroine. I tried to add some ghostly lights (those amoebas floating around there by her hand) to show how she is special (she was spirited away as a child and has the ability to see ghosts for those who are not familiar with the series).
To be honest, I think that Sakura is the one of Takahashi's heroines who is the most difficult to draw. Why? Because she is more slender, and I am already adding curves to the other ones so that it borders on bringing it to an overboard. Her pupils are more narrow too while I like to draw big ones that fill out most of the eyes.
My, this turned out to be a negative artist's comment. I do think that she is very cute and I love her character. As I said, I was very lucky to get to draw her.
