It is indeed the R-13A Cerberus. It and the R-13A2 Hades are very good ships to select but the R-13B Charon is rather difficult to work with.

Yeah, the Anchor Force used on both the R-13A and R-13A2 is great, considering that its chain can also do some damage, but I hated having to deal with the loss of control I had with the Anchor Force DX on the R-13B. The upgrades to the lasers just wasn't worth the trouble.

According to the commentary, this is an April Fools' joke: "A new game, 'Touhou R-TYPE' was finally announced!"

I wouldn't be surprised if they did release another one though, because they released three other R-Type games after "Final" despite originally insisting that "Final" was actually that.
But Touhou R-Type would be really cool.

I think it's more accurate to say that R-Type Final is chronologically the last game in the series, or the last new game in the series to play like a traditional SHMUP. Tactics and Command are strategy RPGs, while Dimensions is a remake compilation of the first two games.
