Artist's commentary
Oh look, it’s Leon S. Kennedy! Haven’t even touched RE9 yet, but I’m already on the hype train. And yes, this is about feeding the children and quenching the thirst. Priorities. But also - Leon has been in my life for, what, 20+ years at this point? So it’s honestly bizarre that this is the first time I’ve actually drawn him. Long overdue.
And while I’m here drawing fictional government agents, the real world is speedrunning its descent into something genuinely terrifying. I can’t stop thinking about how much of this could have been avoided if “civilised” countries had responded properly to russian aggression in 2022. Or in 2014. Or in 2008, when Georgia was attacked. Or at literally any point where stopping it would have meant not emboldening evil. Instead, the worst people on earth feel safe enough to form their little axis of terror, while the US is led by a deranged freak who loves those dictators, aspires to be just like them. And for us, with everything escalating elsewhere, attention will drift. Aid will likely shrink and russia will earn even more from oil, and that money will be poured straight back into missiles and drones aimed at peaceful people in Ukraine, who only ever just wanted to choose their own future. We’re still here. Please don’t forget that.
