It was her own decision to complete the Dragon Head Project in exchange for her life. She believed it was the best solution—and understood, at the same time, that it was a foolish one as well. Even so, she felt no regret. It was a path only someone with so little time left could choose.
Chopin delights in teasing and confounding others, in watching their troubled faces that follow—but she is no villain. She wouldn't hesitate to offer her hand to a person in need, and she would be eager to do anything to make the world a better place.
She has convinced herself that this was the optimal choice. And yet, there was something that lingered in heart. A childish hope that Washington would scold her for doing something so reckless. This little wish was absorbed into the Dragon Head along with her consciousness.
If she could redo that fateful debate once more... maybe this time, Washington would be able to scold her.
...just maybe.
