When I joined the company in 1996, there was an arcade cabinet tucked away in a corner of the Fatal Fury team’s development room. It was used for playtesting games being developed by other teams.

Every day during lunch break, two senior background artists would gather around it, completely absorbed in playing a certain action shooting game.

That game—drawn with astonishing detail—was Metal Slug. It was the first time I ever saw it in motion.

Carrying that sense of awe with me, 30 years have passed in the blink of an eye.

Metal Slug, created by those great pioneers, has never lost its brilliance, and continues to shine across the world to this day.

Its world will no doubt continue to expand endlessly in the years to come.
