For today’s picture I am finally taking a break from water stuff. It’s been a while since the last non-water related picture was in January, at least it is a bit shorter than the previous streaks with the aquatic element ^^. In any case this week’s picture is my colouring of a lineart that I commissioned from StarMVenus. As you might know by now she excels at drawing the Pokemon anime style, this makes her an ideal choice for any pictures related to that series. She also excels from in drawing in shojo anime style, this fits perfectly some franchises that I like such as Cardcaptor Sakura and Puella Magi Madoka. Since it is close to Kinomoto Sakura’s birthday( and also one of my good friend’s birthday but that’s besides the point ^^) I decided to have a picture that features her. One thing I fondly like about Kinomoto’s daily activities was that she participated in her school’s cheerleader club. Fits her well in terms of personality, she is very energetic and excels at physical activities at the price of academic subjects. This was often played for laughs with her relationship with Tomoyo who was REALLY gifted in reading and academics, in one episode Tomoyo was able to read a doorstopper with ease while Sakura struggled with a simple kid’s book with pictures featuring fairy tales. Oh well, we love both of them regardless of their proficiencies ^^. Since I haven’t had a picture featuring Kinomoto in her cheerleader outfit before I decided to fix by commissioning this picture that also includes Dawn from the Pokemon DP anime.

The colouring process was relatively straightforward since I didn’t have to colour a detailed background this time since the spectator stand doesn’t have any intricate details. The cheerleader outfits were also relatively simple to colour since they don’t have complex surfaces or patterns. The only tricky part was colouring the cheerleader poms since those required detailed shadowing, also decided to add sparkly effects to them in order to give the picture more dynamic feel. Overall nothing too much to comment in terms of the colouring process, it was a pleasure to colour this adorable non-water related picture after a long pause. It was fun to work on this picture since StarMVenus’ linework is smooth as always, I highly recommend all of you to check her gallery and commission her if you’re interested to cute artwork ^^
