[Original] Muis Family 📚✒️🌟

I just realized I never posted these here, some illustrations of my original characters! These pieces actually felt quite personal for me, so I’ll ramble about them a bit below hehe :]

Muis family actually started from this illustration of original characters I posted a few years ago. They didn’t even have names back then and I just recently decided that last year haha. They don’t have an overarching story or anything, I just love exploring Indonesian history and fashion.

In a way Robert, the dad, is loosely inspired by my grandpa from dad’s side, and Yasmin, the mom, by my grandma from mom’s side. Admittedly I didn’t spend much time together with them because my grandparents passed when I was still a kid (except my grandma, who passed in 2017) but I always had fond memories wherever I visited their homes.

The homes are long gone now, but I would still love to preserve those memories in these illustrations: a closet full of my grandma’s antique collection and a study room where my grandpa spent most of his days reading and working.
