William D. Porter
“Oops.”
— William D. Porter probably.
Been a while since I’ve drawn anything, but I hope this’ll do :)
USS William D. Porter was a USN Destroyer that once nearly killed then US President Franklin D. Roosevelt when she accidentally fired a torpedo at the USS Iowa. A year or so later on June 1945, she’d end up sinking after a dive bomber that she just dodged exploded right under her keel. The explosion was powerful enough to lift her out of the water and drop her back down, and despite her crew’s best efforts to keep her afloat, the order to abandon her was issued. None of her crew suffered major injuries in the incident.
She’s such a goofy ship and we love her for it. This is pretty late, but welcome to Azur Lane, Willie D.!
