Pegcils. Basically a pencil lead tip in a plastic body with a clip-on bit. Originally intended for score-keeping in golf, with the clip allowing you to just clip in onto the score card. The same clip made it popular for clipping onto notebooks and surveys/questionnaires... and also for punters to pencil in their bets for horse races.
