I have mixed feelings on his new shading style. On one hand, it's cool and pretty unique. On the other hand it almost looks like his characters are furry.

I agree, on this one it takes too much focus from the other aspects of the picture.
On the one submitted right before this one(post #1062355), the shading is more subtle and I think it looks great.

Yeah, that's what I'm talking about. Fantastic example. The dragon girl has cool and stylistic shading that doesn't take away from the piece.

This one's shading looks more like it's from sunlight coming down through palmtree leaves or something.
