Merle, one who unable to escape her military fate.
She was once a female knight serving a noble house within the Duchy of Aquitaine. She was deeply loyal, highly skilled in battle, and during times of major war she brought many crucial victories to the house and to the duchy.
However, those victories gradually eroded her mind. In order to secure advantage, she was ordered to carry out many extreme military actions—ambushes, massacres, chevauchée. Her achievements were piled upon guilty and blood, it wasn't the knightly ideal she had once aspired to. One day, she resolutely abandon everything to seek guidance from the God.
Surprisingly, her lord allowed her leaving. The lord she had served was ruthless toward its enemies, yet capable of such magnanimity toward one of its own. Perhaps it was her fate, or perhaps the path was some greater design, she entered Ordo Mediare. Upon discovering that the order was actively turning into an armed sisterhood rather than a simple nunnery, she initially intended to leave once more, but was persuaded to stay by the Abbess.
"Have you ever considered that a sword meant to kill... can also be a sword meant to save?"
After such guidance from the Abbess, Merle decided to reclaim her military talents once again, but for the Ordo this time. Under her leadership, the sisterhood soon grew into a renowned armed mediator force.
