    Looks like a translation issue from Chinese 咚哐 which is usually a clanging or drumming sound but can also be used for explosions with a more hollow reverberating character.

    The JP version sensibly just went with one of the usual JP explosion SFXes (DOKAAAAN, i.e. KABOOOM).
