Honestly, Kariya is the most tragic character of the whole Fate franchise, the poor guy literally gave everything, both to be faithful to his heart and to achieve his objective (and both cases were examples of seflesness) only to fail and die miserably in the end. ç_ç

Well, he's ONE of the most tragic. Trades/Bargains his life to try and save a girl from a roomfull of rape, loses his sanity, and eventually dies. It's pretty damn terrible, and is the only Fate/backstory I can think of off the top of my head that can be put in a real situation.

No one wants to raise any arguments, I was just stating my opinion on the matter, that's all. I do admit that my choice of words was poor though, thankfully Shaomu corrected my statement.
Then again, IMHO the only other character that shares a fate as gruesome as Kariya's is Sakura, so there's not that much of a difference.

Well, the saddest thing about his situation is that this picture actually shows him succeeding (Sakura is back with her family), and yet it's still depressing.
This is the best he could realistically have achieved.
I know nothing of the fate series, but, even without reading the comments... listening to "Cloud of Unknowing" by the Gorillaz and looking at this pic... my heart completely broke.
