Uma's generally aren't related unless they're siblings with the same dame and sire such as is the case with Narita Brian and Biwa Hayahide, or the Verxina and Vivlos.

But even that's not a hard rule since there are exceptions like Cheval Grand also being the middle sibling of Verxina and Vivlos despite having a different dame, or how Dream Journey and Orfevre aren't related despite having the same dame and sire.

So references to real life relationships between horses are complicated.

Uh, Cheval has the same IRL dam (Halwa Sweet) as the rest of the V sisters.

Drejour and Orfie are also sisters in the umaverse.

Brian and Hayahide are sisters but they don't share the same sire IRL.

If there is one thing that is consistent so far, it's that umas that share the same dam IRL are also considered to be siblings in the Umamusume world, like how IRL horses are also considered siblings if they share the same dam. Having the same IRL sire is ignored, so currently all the Sunday Silence children are unrelated in the umaverse unless you count Ayabe's unborn twin.

Note that in real life horses are only considered siblings if they share the same dam. This is mostly a matter of terminology though; people don't go around breeding same-sire horses together even if they aren't considered "siblings".

Even then, it seems like Cygames is playing loose with which horses get to keep their siblings in uma form; judging by how Chrono doesn't seem to acknowledge Normcore, Buena being an only-child (RIP Joie de Vivre and Admire Japan), and Admire Groove being an orphan with Rulership nowhere in sight.

I guess only the ones whose siblings get brought up a lot in the context of their racing career get to keep their siblings in the uma-verse?
