Horse was said to be psychotic and regularly attempted to maul humans to the point they had to keep him semi-permanently muzzled when turned out. His "party trick" is to pick up a human like a ragdoll, and once he pinned down someone he caught this way against the ground just to viciously bite his stomach. Would've probably killed the man too if he weren't for another person there who had to punch Halo multiple times to get him to back off.
Halo also hated birds and cats and had been caught literally drowning birds in his water bucket multiple times.

Damn if he really almost killed someone than at that point I question the reason as to even train him, if he was that dangerous, even if he was wildly successful. Sorry to be potentially cruel here but dogs have been put down for less

Well, Halo was already trained and a modestly successful ex-racehorse when that incident happened. And a highly successful sire too, being the Leading Sire in North America just the year prior (1983). (He would later become Leading Sire again in 1989 thanks to his son Sunday Silence.) The farm that acquired him also just paid 36 million in 1984 dollars to buy him.
