Suddenly I have an image in my head of Smough picking up Ornstein and shoving his spear through his head for the sake of combining (or rather, Jolly Cooperation!).
Ornstein is the captain of the Four Knights and potentially the strongest of the four. If he isn't wind-gliding his way to impale you on his spear, he's electrifying you. If he isn't do that he's doing the most epic badass slow walk of all fucking time.

I'd wager that Artorias is the strongest of the knights to be honest. While Ornstein might have been the captain, it is said that Artorias was unmatched with a greatsword. Of course, it could mean that he was unmatched in using a greatsword, or my interpertation, that he was unmatched when using a greatsword. Looking forward to the DLC!
