8/27 is Chinsuko Day!There are two theories about the origin of the name of this traditional Okinawan baked confectionery. One is that "ちん" is "珍" (rare) and refers to a rare confectionery, and the other is that "ちん" is "金" (gold) and refers to a heavy confectionery.
(Suko means confectionery.)
ちん is chinThere is also a product on sale called "Chinposuko," which is a chinsuko shaped like a penis, with a fertility theme in reference to Okinawa's high birth rate.
Chinposuko literally means penis confectioneryI love chinsukou so much!
