Looks more like "重" with a hand or tree radical beside it, but I can't find any sign of such a kanji actually existing. Closest I could come was "橦", which doesn't seem likely but apparently means "pole".

I recognized it as 挿. The last horizontal stroke is likely to be a typo, probably because of confusion with the alternative kanji 插 of the same meaning.
