I took the question as "how does an appealer know if something has already been appealed?", and still think a note about appearing in this thread would be convenient from those dredging status:deleted.

I don't know that two independent people coincidentally appealing the same post is a huge concern. It's more that sometimes the same person appeals the same post multiple times in an attempt to ram it through, and that's bad.
