I tried a couple of times to upload the gif found here:

But each time I've tried it says "Error: Preview couldn't be generated (couldn't read GIF)" I must be doing something wrong, but I don't know what. Can anyone offer advice or a solution?

The parser sometimes can't handle certain files, for reasons that I'm not clear on. Probably it's a bit more fragile than your web browser in terms of compatibility with nonstandard headers or something. One solution is to open it and resave it in some GIF editor, see if that makes any difference. Since GIF is lossless, it won't lower the quality of the image, though it will be a different file from the one found at the source URL.
