Can someone explain?

The art isn’t too bad in the first, second and fourth post (third and fifth are a bit mediocre for today’s standards), but they’re not particularly interesting for anyone not reading the novel. One of the characters cut off in the second post is particularly annoying. The first three are also upscales. Game screenshots in general aren’t particularly popular.

Btw, please write post #3526487 instead of pasting a link and the site will add a link to that automatically.

Also, does Danbooru only accept good artwork?

Yes, that’s the goal. “Good” is subjective, so there are often disagreements about what is “good”.

Some of my uploads still got deleted even though it was an official artwork by someone, linked Pixiv, Highres, etc.

Well, those things don’t matter at all. Even official art can be bad. Some VNs, dating games or eroges have particularly bad art if the makers couldn’t afford a good artist. Adding sources is always good, but an image being hosted on Pixiv is no guarantee for quality. There’s a lot of garbage on Pixiv too. Image resolution matters the least. Since everyone’s always screaming for higher resolutions, especially on other image boards, users started upscaling images, which adds nothing and only wastes space, which is why we hate it.

It feels biased and hypocritical.

That’s because it is. See about:mod_queue. To have a post accepted, at least one approver needs to like it. If nobody likes it, it goes unapproved. You can appeal it once to give it a second review, but if it stays unapproved, you need to accept that. Whining about the approval process will get you voted down and possibly banned. That’s how Danbooru rolls. If you can’t accept that, you should choose a different image board to call your home.

Btw, complaining about the approval process or arguing why your posts should be approved anyway are beyond the scope of this thread and are not recommended.

Hello, new user here, I wonder if I can just ask something that's been bothering me for the last day here?
I was wondering if the reason there's almost no yaoi or mostly male explicit content here is because they just don't get approved? I mean, from my understanding reading everything, it is probably that.
I don't mean to assume, but it would be expected that a straight guy wouldn't be into that, and how exactly is it handled? How do approvers stay objective?
I saw the part where it says that "Sexually explicit content is hastily deleted" but how come most female porn becomes active in one day or even less?

Many fans and people take Danbooru as a place to rate character's popularity, and it seems like tons of male art gets dismissed just because it's male content/sexual(even my non-sexual ones are still pending), while female sexually explicit art goes rampant and I just see that as being very unfair.

I might be just panicking needlessly and that was too long of a post, I'm sorry, but I would just like to be able to actually upload good art here without it getting deleted just because it's yaoi/gay/bara etc if possible, I hope I didn't waste my time learning how to use this website the last week.
Thanks for your time.

Danbooru’s approval process isn’t particularly objective. about:mod_queue mentions that “the manual and subjective process of the Mod Queue has its inherent flaws”. Some approvers try to be objective, but I can’t say how they handle yaoi and other male explicit stuff without asking them all. There are no guidelines regarding that, I believe.

I guess it’s a vicious circle of non-interest: there aren’t that many images like that on Danbooru → few users interested in that come here → even less of those users are promoted to approvers → less images like that are approved → repeat cycle.

I saw the part where it says that "Sexually explicit content is hastily deleted" but how come most female porn becomes active in one day or even less?

Where does it say something like that? Is that a quote from somewhere? Google can’t find it anywhere on the Internet. I’ve never heard of such a Danbooru policy either. Just to make sure: you’re not mixing up Danbooru’s safebooru.donmai.us and safebooru.org, which has nothing to do with Danbooru? Danbooru’s howto:upload says:

Danbooru is not a Hentai Board

Danbooru is a high-quality anime-illustration gallery that tolerates sexual content. We are NOT a repository for anime porn. We accept sexual content because the talented artists out there, especially from Japan, happen to draw a lot of good smut. There is no preferential treatment for erotic art. All uploads, erotic or not, are subject to Danbooru Quality guidelines.

Many fans and people take Danbooru as a place to rate character's popularity, and it seems like tons of male art gets dismissed just because it's male content/sexual(even my non-sexual ones are still pending), while female sexually explicit art goes rampant and I just see that as being very unfair.

Danbooru is a measure for character popularity? That seems like a bad idea…

While I do agree that that could be considered unfair, I have no idea how to escape the vicious circle of non-interest I mentioned above, unless a user that doesn’t mind approving yaoi content gets promoted to approver by chance.

I might be just panicking needlessly and that was too long of a post, I'm sorry, but I would just like to be able to actually upload good art here without it getting deleted just because it's yaoi/gay/bara etc if possible,

If you want to upload such content, I suggest you test the waters with safe or at least questionable images. They have a much higher likeliness to get approved than explicit stuff. That’s true for pretty much all content, though. Yuri example:

yuri rating:s - 51k posts
yuri rating:q - 21k posts
yuri rating:e - 12k posts

Edit: Uh… not true for yaoi, apparently? °_°

yaoi rating:s - 4k
yaoi rating:q - 1k
yaoi rating:e - 4k

Please note that this discussion is off-topic for this thread. If you want to discuss it in more detail, please start a new thread.

I've uploaded a higher-quality version of a recently approved image (post #3531442) but the higher-quality versions were removed. This has happened to me before so I'm genuinely not sure if I should be uploading these versions or not.

The Twitterversion wasn´t approved by anyone, it was just uploaded by someone who doesn´t need their uploads to be approved by someone. It´s called "unrestricted uploads".
In almost every case you can upload the pixiv-version or the higher quality version of a post, if the twitter version really was approved by someone. In this case you have to hope that any approver likes it anyway.

Uploads are sporadic, and I understand that some things have a low chance of being approved (I was torn on including a scat variant of a set), but there is either ample quality (the other images of said set) or sufficient quality paired with premise (a set of physique comparisons, recently) to warrant someone to allow a pass. Am I really so distanced from Danbooru’s mod queue these past few years, or is volume outpacing passing interest in my less than common selections?

This happened with post #3488414 as well but that one actually had a version that was approved.

post #3536472 This gif is really well-made, I don't really see what's wrong, character don't have much art too.
post #3535557 I can see that the chest looks a bit weird, but it's pretty much his design, maybe overdone a bit, I don't see as that bad.. Or am I blinded by his precious expression?

At least less and less of my uploads are getting deleted but I thought those would be good enough too. Can't have the standard be too high or else there won't be much to post.

Any feedback on this: post #3536299
I thought that this would be approved, since it has pretty much the same quality of post #3509562/post #3527261. Her pose, eyes, hair, color and shading looks basically the same of those artworks.

I would say that her right arm (her POV) looks a bit odd with the edge there, and her hip and ass is a bit large for her body. Her face and chest to navel looks pretty good, but her lower body is why it wasn´t approved, I think.

yeah, now that you mention... I think I'll have to pay more attention to these details.
